June (1/2) and July 2026 Dump featuring Hilary Duff and the City of Memphis

So, summer is over. Sad times. But man, it's been a darn good two months.

We've already covered the majesty of Malaysia, Singapore, and Bali. For the rest of the summer, I spent most of my time at the Memphis Zoo working as a camp counselor. If you didn't know, the Memphis Zoo is consistently ranked as one of the top five zoos in the nation, and it is a joy to work there. Kids are kids, so they aren't always well-behaved, even at something fun like summer camp at the zoo, but the animals are fantastic. My favorite behind-the-scenes animals, that only come out at certain times like camps, are the birds. Red is a macaw and Baroness is a red-tailed hawk. Both are 10/10.

For the 4th of July, Mom and I went to Phoenix, AZ. Mostly because I wanted to see Hilary Duff and that's the show that worked in my schedule, but also because of the Grand Canyon. We hit up two museums in Phoenix (the Musical Instrument Museum and the Heard Museum). Both were fantastic. The Grand Canyon is, as the name implies, grand. This area is definitely merits a return. My mom want to go back to do rafting in the Grand Canyon, and I would love to expand the trip to include Sedona, New Mexico, maybe some spa stops.

And Hilary was amazing. Truly what dreams are made of.

Then, right before I had to report for in-service, we had the pleasure of hosting Vicki, Kieran, and their family from Australia. It's always fun to be a Memphis tour guide and we hit all the top spots: Huey's, Rendezvous, the zoo, a Redbirds Game, Graceland, and the Pyramid. And, of course, Outback Steakhouse to treat our guests to an authentic Australian experience. Memphis gets a bit of a bad reputation, so I am always happy to show off our beautiful, diverse city. Vicki, Kieran, and anyone else, you are always welcome!

The cats and dog continue to live their best lives. See Stormy below.

And now we're back to school. I was originally hired as an auxiliary teacher doing small groups and intervention, but I have since been moved to 8th grade ELA. It happens.

Anyway, I hope everyone had a great summer. To those of you going back to school in any way, good luck. If you have a regular type job, keep up the great work.

Also, please follow my travel TikTok and Instagram.

And that's it. Great. Thanks. Bye.
