January 2026 Dump featuring Ice

January 2026 was 87 days long. And for at least 10 of those days, the city of Memphis was under ice (the frozen kind, not the murderous, Nazi-esque kind). Maybe 15 days? I don't know; I just know I have mostly been stuck inside. Listen, I'm all for some extra days off school, but now I'm bored.

But anyway, before the great frosting, I had time for a few fun things. One was seeing Kamala Harris speak at the Orpheum. She was excellent. Well-spoken, thoughtful, and compassionate. She reminded us that being part of a community, at least a well-functioning community, requires helping each other. We have to actually care about other people, which is apparently a radical idea.

I also went to The Science of Beer at MoSH with my dad. He enjoyed the science; I enjoyed the science and the snacks.

I read and watched Fight Club. I honestly was not impressed. It was obviously written/created by and for men. I think there are better ways to fight the horrors of our capitalistic society than developing multiple personalities, starting clubs centered around beating each other up, and blowing up buildings. That's just me though.

And, most excellently, I got tickets to see BTS!!! I will see them in Texas in August and LA over Labor Day. Much planning to come.

And now we have been stuck inside for many moons. Let's hope the ice melts and the roads improve. Until, enjoy these cat pictures.
